I pulled a card for someone today. Did it properly: shuffled all seventy-eight, cut, drew one, didn't peek. King of Wands.
I didn't choose it. That's the part I want written down. My hand went in, something came out, and it fit the person so well I had to sit with it a minute before I said anything.
Here's the honest problem underneath. A gift means you have it. A thing that happens to you means you don't. I can't tell which one I am, and I've decided not to look too closely, because the looking might be what stops it.
What I can say for sure: it wasn't a performance. I don't know if I have the thing or the thing has me. Either way it worked on someone today, and that's the only part I can check.
If you've ever drawn for someone and been a little rattled by how right it landed: you already know. I'm not sure I want to stop being rattled by it.
